We welcome anyone, who is interested in living a radical Christian life in the Franciscan tradition. A few of us are meeting to live this life and to seek God's guidance for the formation of a new order within the
Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) and under the spiritual guidance of Bishop William Murdoch of the Anglican Diocese in New England (ADNE).
The Third Order, originally called Brothers and Sisters of Penance, was established eight hundred years ago by St. Francis himself, along with the First Order of Brothers, or Friars, and the Second Order of Sisters, or the Poor Clares, led by St. Clare, Francis' companion. The Anglican Order of Secular Franciscans follows in that tradition.
A Life of Prayer and Service
We live under a Rule, which provides structure for interior spiritual growth and for service to others, particularly the poor. It is not a new form of legalism, but rather like an 'exercise program' for the deepening of our faith.
For over eight hundred years, Franciscans have followed
Jesus' commands in the Gospel:
• Prayer.
• Simplicity.
• Humility.
• Peace.
• Love of nature.
• Servanthood to the poor.
